SafeClick Guard is a Chrome extension that warns users about suspicious websites, phishing risk signals, and risky downloads.
SafeClick Guard may process the current website URL and basic page signals, such as whether a page contains password fields or login-like forms. These checks are used to provide website risk warnings.
When download protection is enabled, SafeClick Guard may process download information provided by Chrome, including download URL, source page URL, filename, and download status. This is used to show Keep Download or Stop Download decisions.
SafeClick Guard stores extension settings, trusted domains, blocked domains, recent scan results, and pending download decisions locally in the user's browser using Chrome extension storage.
SafeClick Guard uses a secure backend at https://api.safe-guard.us to perform URL reputation checks. When needed, the extension may send the URL being checked, scan context, filename, download URL, source page URL, and extension version to the backend.
The backend may submit URLs or URL-related information to third-party security reputation services, including VirusTotal, to determine whether a URL is reported as malicious or suspicious. API keys are stored on the backend and are not included in the Chrome extension.
SafeClick Guard does not sell user data and does not use browsing or download information for advertising.
SafeClick Guard does not sell user data. URL reputation requests may be shared with third-party security reputation services only when needed to provide the extension's security features, protect against malware, phishing, spam, fraud, or abuse.
Extension settings, trusted domains, blocked domains, recent scan results, and pending download decisions are stored locally in the user's browser. Users can clear recent download scan history from the extension options page.
Backend systems may temporarily process requests for reputation checks, rate limiting, abuse prevention, debugging, and service reliability. SafeClick Guard does not intentionally create a permanent browsing-history profile.
Cloud reputation requests are transmitted over HTTPS. SafeClick Guard does not include third-party reputation API keys in the extension package.
SafeClick Guard's use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. SafeClick Guard uses Chrome API data only to provide or improve its single purpose: warning users about suspicious websites, phishing risk signals, and risky downloads.
